Oscar Awards 2012 (Red Carpet)

Yahoo! This has got to be my most-awaited red carpet moment! (And I'm sure it is yours too, right?) Since I've crossed over to choosing my own best-dressed list, I will continue to do so in this post. I am so excited to be doing this post you have no idea! Hahah. Anyway, it took me a day and a half to decide my top ten list of best-dressed during the Oscar Awards. Here goes!

10. Jennifer Lopez in Zuhair Murad
Honestly, this isn't  my fave look on her. It's a bit over the top for me but since my Hollywood fashion peg is Mother JLo, I'm paying utmost respect by including her in my top ten. Maybe next time she could lose those cutout sleeves, yeah? Nevertheless...look at those curves baby!!!

9. Kristen Wiig in J. Mendel
She might not be in any of the best-dressed list this awards season (especially in the Oscars), but I like the simplicity of this look. I wished there was a pop of contrast on the dress though.

8. Shailene Woodley in Valentino
I actually understand why people are making it part of the worst dressed list. The dress is simply too old on her fresh face. But I love how vintage this gown is so I'm putting it in my number 8. I am stubborn like that. :-p

7. Cameron Diaz in Gucci
The happy Tita Cameron has all the reasons to be all smiling in this pic. The dress looks so fun fresh fierce on her! You never age Tita! You already! Hahah.

6. Jessica Chastain in Alexander McQueen
She's on my third winning streak! I'm officially starting to be a fan of this lady. Her dress looks so expensive, I could prolly steal it and be an instant millionaire!

SOLDIER by Gavin DeGraw

Ever had one of those weird butterflies in your tummy when listening to a great song you love so much? Well, I guess I have those whenever this song is on. I only have a few list of favorite artists and Gavin (the name of Keyk 1's future son) is one of them. The thing about me is that I listen to a song the whole day so I can memorize it and sing it in the shower the next morning. Hahah. Current apple of my ears? Solder by Gavin DeGraw.

Where did all the people go?

They got scared when the lights went low.
I'll get you through it nice and slow,
When the world's spinning out of control.

Afraid of what they might lose
Might get scraped or they might get bruised.
You could beg them, what's the use?
That's why it's called a moment of truth

I'll get it if you need it,
I'll search if you don't see it,
You're thirsty, I'll be rain,
You get hurt, I'll take your pain.

I know you don't believe it,
But I said it and I still mean it,
When you heard what I told you,
When you get worried I'll be your soldier.

Funny when times get hard,
At the last moment when you're supposed to charge,
Always on the longest yard,
Oh, they feel their feet getting cold.

Hiding here, hiding there,
Find them underneath the stairs,
People hiding everywhere,
Trying to be still like a stone.

I'll get it if you need it,
I'll search if you can't see it,
You're thirsty, I'll be rain,
You get hurt, I'll take your pain.

I know you don't believe it,
But I said it and I still mean it,
When you heard what I told you,
When you get worried I'll be your soldier.

My aim is so true,
I wanna show you,
I'll try forever,
I'm never gonna say "surrender".

I'll get it if you need it,
I'll search if you can't see it,
You're thirsty, I'll be rain,
You get hurt, I'll take your pain.

I know you don't believe it,
But I said it and I still mean it,
When you heard what I told you,
When you get worried I'll be your soldier.

I'll be your soldier
Well I'll be, oh I'll be your soldier
I'll be your soldier
I'll be your soldier

Earthquake Victims Relief Operaions

Everybody knows about what happened to Negros last week. The earthquake has left so much damage to properties, infrastructures and people's lives. Honestly, it's a bit too much considering Sendong wasn't really too long ago. But you know what they always say. These things happen without any warning. We can never be 100% prepared.

But what most people do not know is the severity of the situation of the badly-affected areas. No electricity, no water and food is SCARCE up to this day. And to make things much worse than it already is, roads and bridges are damaged so it's really difficult to reach them. It's as close to getting stranded in an island! (Update: some roads/highways are passable now BTW)

DYWC has been doing relief efforts since the recent Sendong and this time is no different. Their listeners and friends have been so generous to give some goods and water for their fellow Negrenses. I was one of the volunteers who re-packed the donations and went to the areas to deliver them last week. Compared to Sendong, it was harder this time for us to secure a trusty vehicle. Going to the areas on land meant maneuvering the rocky roads and passing through rivers. Thank God for friendship and connections, we were able to get military trucks. You couldn't go wrong with that.

Achiever: our trusty Military Truck
Saw the damage along the way...To be honest, my pictures do not really live up to what is really happening when you see them up close. Also, I was taking these photos while the truck was fast-moving so these are the only decent shots that turned out okay.

Grammy Awards 2012 (Red Carpet)

Look, I'm done trying to imagine all the red carpet looks on myself. I've done two posts which are more of a personal window shopping but the truth is, I like to pretend that I'm a professional fashion critic for A-listers. There, I said it. I like to be the Anna Wintour or Andre Leon Talley of red carpets. I like to comment on anything red carpet FASHYOWN, dates included. LOL

It's a given fact that the Grammys is the perfect time to be all weird and experimental with your looks (e.g. Gaga and Nicki) but nothing beats the classic Hollywood glam, which some of the singers actually opted.

So this is the new era of my red carpet post folks. I have slept through this decision day and night and I have finally seen the light. Ahh! The 'eureka moment' of my blogging life. I have finally listed down my top 10 best dressed list. Yes, you heard (or read) it right. 10 NOT 5. And I am channeling the Andre Leon Talley in me at the moment so let me present to you my top 10 looks..

10. Amber Rose in Versace - First, I love the color on her. Second, it's kind of a cute contrast. A bad-ass woman wearing a clean yellow dress is so interesting. The element of surprise always works every time.

9. Alicia Keys in Alexandre Vauthier - Fierce! This look is so strong and striking but it's still feminine. I could see my future self wearing this actually, minus the hair. A simple pony tail would do for me, thankyouverymuch.

8. Rihanna in custom Armani Prive - Any girl would love to have those curves. I mean seriously? Are you mocking me Riri?! Hahah. A slap to Chris Brown's thick face. This is what it's all about.

7. Adele in custom Armani Prive - The Big Winner! (Not necessarily literally, okay). My ultimate voice-insecurity is the STAR OF THE NIGHT! And I couldn't be prouder. (Feeling close?) This sequined black dress speaks AUTHORITY, in strong contradiction to all her heartbreak songs. Love her to death!

6. Kate Beckinsale in Zuhair Murad - With this face and body, even a sack is enough to put you on the best dressed list. I love her glow! Easy breezy beautiful!

My Valentine's Day 2012

My Valentine's Day was so full-packed that up until now, I still got all this crazy heebie jeebies from yesterday. There wasn't anything grand about it actually. No fireworks. No huge surprises. But it's honestly one of the best so far.

Most of the people do not know this, but Valentine's Day is actually my OFFICIAL DAY with Sinta. (There was an Unofficial Day too, back when everything was so COMPLICATED, which you can only look back with a smile on your face. :-) )

Valentines Day 2009, Cebu City
Like what I mentioned earlier, there was nothing MAJOR MAJOR about my Valentine's Day. I got my usual surprise (kuno) with a bouquet of red roses. (Hahah. Sorry Ga, kabalo nakong muhatag ka. I just didn't know what time or how you'd do it. :p lol )

Red Roses
My morning face! Yuck.
But I just didn't get a bunch of red roses ladies and gentlemen. What I got is a bunch a of red roses with a box of party-sized Monster Meat Pizza from Dexter's! You could only imagine the look on my face when I realized how thoughtful Sinta was. Thoughtful not in the sense that he brought me a box of pizza...but I remembered a few days back how the Dexter's Pizza employees earnestly invited us to try out their special pizzas on VDay. He gladly obliged himself to pay them a visit. SUWEEEET!

So what do I do with a huge platter in front of me? I was alone in my house and I couldn't possibly devour them all.

Thank God for friends who live a few meters from your place! Decided to visit  the Tan sisters. I haven't seen these girls for a while now and it was the perfect time to catch up with them.

Fave TV Couples

Hey everyone! Since Valentines Day is just around the corner (in fact, it's barely 2 hours from now), I thought I'd share some lovely couples on TV that have become a part of my life. My TV-series-marathon life, that is. I've picked my top favorite TV couples of all time. My addiction started from One Tree Hill so that perfectly explains why I have 3 couples from the series in my list.

5. Lucas and Peyton, One Tree Hill
This couple was the very reason why I watched One Tree Hill a few years back. I was officially hooked from the day that Lucas saw Peyton for the first time (which is basically the very first episode I think).  They have such beautiful chemistry and though I don't see them on the show anymore (and I do hope they come back real soon!), LeyTon will always be one of my favorites.

4. Brooke and Julian, One Tree Hill
Ahh. The first-time parents! Love this paranoid couple to bits! This pair definitely had my heart since the day that Julian caught Brooke doing her crazy stupid dance. Up until now, each of their fears get the best of them but they always find a way to be strong for each other. Such an inspiration!

3. Nathan and Haley, One Tree Hill
The most stable couple in OTH! This couple has been to hell and back and they are stronger than ever! I love the way how Haley handles every situation - good and bad. She does it with grace and strong will every time. Nathan may be the weaker and fragile one, but his sensitivity makes every one in the family in tact. They make Long-distance relationships work too! Very ideal couple. Close to perfect!

2. Chuck and Blair, Gossip Girl
The most complicated couple ever! Seriously, this is the only pair which makes me fuming mad! Ggrrr. These two have so much passion and let's not forget all the scheming,  that they couldn't handle each other anymore. I hate seeing them apart! I just hate it. When they look at each other's eyes, *poof* MAAAAGIC! That just means that THEY NEED TO BE BACK TOGETHER. THEY MUST. Otherwise, it's the end of the world for me.

1. Lily and Marshall, How I Met Your Mother
Officially the funniest couple on TV! My goodness, I could smile all day just by looking at their pictures! THIS is the kind of relationship that I want (which I already have, in a way actually). They have been together for a long time and they've become each other's best friends. And no matter how awful the situation is, they always handle it with serious gusto in a hilarious kind of way of course. And as long as Lily and Marshall and Barney are on the show, I really couldn't care less about how Ted met his kids' mom.

Being clever is better than being thoughtful...

Saw this at Manong Dingus’ place a few months back and I only got to take a picture the other week. Apparently, the older brother (Dale) made this greeting card and Antoine, the younger brother intentionally placed his name to take the credit.
Looks like being clever is better than being thoughtful! (I couldn’t stop laughing when I saw this.)

My Whitney Houston Road Trip Song

In memory of the diva, I originally thought of posting a video of me singing my favorite road trip song. Then again, I don't know how my readers (3 of them as of my last count) would react to my UNIQUE kind of vocal cords. The last thing I want is to make this post an offensive one!

Anyway, Sinta's auditory nerves have been numb to this song and my version of it. Oh well, at least I have someone (at least one) who'd painfully let me kill them alive with my voice. Hahah.

Dear Whitney,

You'll always have a frustrated-because-i-don't-have-your-kind-of-voice type of fan in me. You'll always be remembered.

                                                                                                                    Love,
                                                                                                                       T-tye

Raine Antoine Turns 10

Last Friday, I got a txt message from Raine Antoine around noon time which was something like, "Hi T-tye! Happy birthday to me!" And I was like, "Oh my God I am a terrible aunt!" Hahah. I always forget birthdays darn it! Maybe it's perfect time for celebrators to actually inform everyone that it's their birthday right? I mean, it would save us from a lot of making reminders in our phones. :-p

Anyway, his parents decided to celebrate it on a weekend. Unfortunately, none of my family members in Sibulan was available. So as usual, I had to represent the Sibulan party alone. I had my usual rants that Friday evening and maybe it was because of pity that Sinta decided to travel with me! Yay! And at the very last minute, guess who joined in?

Earthquake Hits Negros (020712)

One fine day downtown, I bumped into Pat (a high-school classmate) so we decided to catch up and sit down with some fries and coke floats at McDo. It was an easy and naturally long conversation that we didn't notice the time flying by. The only thing we noticed? ONLY THE TABLES AND CHAIRS SWINGING DOWN THE FLOOR TREMBLING for about 30 seconds which felt like forever! McDo is normally full during lunch time and yes, you could only imagine different types of people with all those types of reaction!

If I remember correctly, I was able to notice (in retrospect) three different kinds of people according to their reactions.
  • First one? We have the types of people who are exceptionally calm and quite all throughout the event. It's as if someone from up above sent them a txt message a day ahead and made them sure that everything's going to be okay so there's no reason not to finish their chicken sandwich. Yes, they were very cool people who only managed to pause for a moment while the earth was shaking and with considerable poise, grabbed back their sandwich and munched on them!
  • The second kind of people are the panicky ones. These are the guys and girls who shout all of their lungs out and run like hell! They make the exit gates more congested because of their useless aggression and more importantly their sweaty underarms, which in turn would piss all the others off.
  • The last kind is more of my kindred. It's basically a mixture of the previous two. These are the people who take some time to digest what is going on and then later on decide what to do.  It took me around 20 seconds (which is almost the whole length of the first earthquake) to figure out that it was something odd and then Pat and I ran outside the building. We stayed at the street for a couple of minutes more just to wait for everyone else to calm down.

Okay. This isn't exactly where we were located during that time but we were very close. Apparently, not a single one knew yet that a magnitude 7 hit the area.

Turns out that I, together will all the others, didn't do it the right way. I later found out that the most dangerous places are the exterior walls of buildings, near sinkholes and electrical posts! Experts say that if you are inside, stay inside and if you're outside then yes, stay outside too! So I could've really died right then and there either of an electric shock or a stab from a broken glass! Or a heart attack! But that's just too morbid. (Just so you know, I didn't do any earthquake drill back in grade or high school. I think i may have skipped class or something. I only remember fire drills for some reason.)

Minutes later, news from Guihulngan (thru Sinta) came. I have a handful of family members from the town and we later found out that my Aunt's place has been wrecked, among others. Was browsing through some Facebook pics and to my horror, this is what I saw...

SAG Awards 2012 (Red Carpet)

Here we are again with another Red Carpet post! This time, the SAG awards! I don't think this was shown on TV so I was only checking the photos online. (Loser!)

Just as what I mentioned in my first red carpet post, these are going to be the top outfits which will look best on me. And as much as I wanted to be like Angelina Jolie, Stacy Keibler or Sofia Vergara, I think I've got enough humility to admit that I wouldn't look even half of what they did on the awards night. So let's not talk about those people anymore... Hahah.

Here's my list. Let's go!

5. Ariel Winter in Collete Dinnigan - Two words: Very Bagets! I'd highly recommend this to Proms. If I wear this to a wedding, I'll be prettier than the bride for sure! :-p

Ariel Winter from Modern Family

4. Rose Byrne in Ellie Saab - Loving the 70's vibe! I'd do anything for that bob... Plus the full-sequined suit is chic and sexy. I love this so much.

Rose Byrne of Bridesmaids

3. Jessica Chastain in Calvin Klein - It's funny coz this almost looks like a lingerie to me. Hahah. Simple silhouettes and bold colors are my thing so this is definitely on my list.

Parish Youth Day

After a month of putting off, the Parish Youth Day finally pushed through last weekend! We originally had it scheduled December 17 of last year. Obviously, the weather wasn't on our side that time and Sendong just ruined the whole thing. We had to cancel the event on the same day and had it rescheduled for last weekend.

This time, everything just went all in our favor: clear blue skies, great number of participants, overflowing food, no accidents and most importantly, no damaged classrooms! Hahah.

I originally thought about doing a story-telling according to how the event went. But I'm too lazy and tired to explain them one by one. So I will be leaving you with all of these pictures below. Most of them are highlights of the overnight event. Some of them, i just like for some reasons. :-)
