Valentines Weekend in Dapitan City

Happy Love Month everyone! This year, I had an out of town trip with my family and my brother's co-workers. Actually, this was their company thingamajig. We just decided to join in on their pre-election trip. The more the merrier, right?

We availed of the tour package so we wouldn't have to worry about what to do in the trip. The package included almost everything (boat fare, tour bus, city tours, river cruise, overnight stay in Dakak, some free water activities and meals) so a lot has been pretty much taken cared of.

Early morning boat trip...

River cruise along Dapitan river...

Dapitan City Hall.

Rizal's Landing Site. So this one is pretty similar to Leyte's Mac Arthur Landing Memorial Park. This huge monument which is along Sunset Boulevard was where our national hero landed to begin his expatriation life in the city. Right across this larger than life monument is a huge cross. I'm not sure if this was explained by the tour guide but it sure makes for an interesting conversation piece.

Museo ni Jose Rizal. Basically, this wide piece of land was where our national hero spent a lot of his Dapitan life. This shrine consists of an exact replica of his house, the Lover's Rock where Josephine Bracken and our stud of a hero exchanged vows, the mi retiro rock and many others.

St. James the Apostle Church. Where Pepe goes to mass every Sunday. Inside the church was a marker where he would usually sit in. Unfortunately, we weren't able to go near the marker since there was a wedding mass going on.

Dakak Park and Beach Resort. According to our tour guide, Dakak was a combination name of Dakong Kakahuyan which means wide forest or something. I couldn't really translate it properly. Heheh.

Gloria's Fantasyland. This was where I really enjoyed the most! The tour package gave us access to all rides (all 21 of them) and a bowling pass too. So ride we did! I wasn't able to do everything there but I had a lot of fun! The theme park also had a cultural and fire show (Joie de Vivre) at around 10pm with the parade of nations and cultures right after. The night ended with a fireworks display. It's a feast for the eyes! Highly recommended!

Early morning mass.

Post-breakfast faces.

It was a fairly quick trip and I'm honestly still thinking about some activities I could've done if only time was in our hands. We had a bit of a screw-up with the check-in so it ate a lot of our time the first day. But all in all, it was pretty memorable and I'm glad I spent this weekend away from home! Lol
