Change is Coming

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to a whole new administration! Looking forward to seeing and experiencing the 'change' we've all been clamouring for. Good luck and God bless you, Mr. President!

Here are some of my favourite lines from his inaugural speech:

" My adherence to due process and the rule of law is uncompromising. "

" You mind your work and I will mind mine. "

" But the change, if it is to be permanent and significant, must start with us and in us. "

" The ride will be rough. But come and join me just the same. Together, shoulder to shoulder, let us take the first wobbly steps in this quest. "

" Do them and we will work together. Do not do them, we will part sooner than later. "

" Let me remind in the end of this talk, that I was elected to the presidency to serve the entire country. I was not elected to serve the interests of any one person or any group or any one class. I serve every one and not only one. That is why I have adapted as an article of faith, the following lines written by someone whose name I could no longer recall. He said:
'I have no friends to serve, I have no enemies to harm.' "

" Why am I here? The past tense was, I am here because I love my country and I love the people of the Philippines. I am here, why? Because I am ready to start my work for the nation. "

Moon River - Audrey Hepburn (Breakfast at Tiffany's)

I may be a little biased here but there is no other Moon River version more raw and authentic than this one. A clip from one of my favorite "comfort movies" Breakfast at Tiffany's, this scene always gets me all the corny heebie jeebies! :)

And that "Hiiiii..." at the end, I have countlessly practiced that for at least four years now! I always ( and I mean always) end up sounding like a trans woman picking a guy up at a bar! Hahah!

How to be you po, Audrey Hepburn???

On This Day (Four Years Ago)

Sometimes, Facebook just doesn't care how many times you don't need to get reminded of some moments in the past. Their "On This Day" feature can be pretty annoying. Other days though, it leaves you feeling very nostalgic.

Today, I came across this photo from 4 years ago. That year may be one of the most emotional years for me and my friends yet. Two of my very close friends lost their dads on the same year and I am still left teary-eyed (at the very least) every time I look back and recollect those memories.

I don't know who took this photo (Phoebe Jhen or Chrisha?), but I can't help but stare at my droopy face and bloodshot eyes. I look very very uhmmm...TIRED. Emotionally. Physically. Spiritually.

Four years later, I still get the bloodshot eyes every now and then but that's mainly due to my TV series marathons, reading blogs 'til the wee hours in the morning or when allergic rhinitis gets in the way. My friends are better, happier and ever more inspired in life in general.

So I guess I have Facebook's 'reminder' to thank for this blog entry.

Also, I miss my long hair. Come back sooner?
